The All Ordinaries index ended the day 1.2 points lower or 0.03% to close at 4286.4.
Newcrest Mining Limited (NCM) ended the day 1.99% higher to close at $32.84despite announcing that production fell 20% after its mining operations were impacted by heavy rain in Papua New Guinea and a groundfall at an open-pit mine in Australia.
Oil Search Limited (OSH) ended the day 2.70% higher to close at $6.84 after it announced gas production for the fourth quarter of 2011 was 1.64 million barrels, 10% higher than in the third quarter. Fourth quarter oil production was 1.40 million barrels.
